The purpose of the Smith Athletic Association (SAA) is to create,
organize and support athletic programs within the Alberta Smith
Elementary School boundaries. SAA strives to promote in the youth of
the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership,
fair play and respect for others by providing a well-supervised program
of competitive athletic and associated events. The emphasis of all
programs will be on the well-being and instruction of the youth

December 3, 2013 A new FAMILY PLAN has been created for SAA Families in good standing, playing in multiple sports, and/or have more than one Shark! There will be a maximum cap on the REGISTRATION FEES for your sports! The plan will start at the beginning of basketball registration (when you must renew your SAA membership) and will end at football/cheer registration each year.
The maximum fees will be:
1 child: $150
2 children: $200
3 children: $250
4+ children: $300
For example, if you have a cheerleader & football player who also play spring softball & baseball, your maximum registration fee will be $200. Once you reach that amount, you do not need to pay for any additional registration fees.

Our Association will be holding ELECTIONS in November to fill positions that are up for re-election.
As the Membership Director, it is one of my duties to assemble a
NOMINATION COMMITTEE consisting of 5 members in good standing from our
membership. The Committee will consist of ONE representative from each

Recently, vandals have been damaging the areas around the football
fields at Smith. It is our responsibility to maintain the press box and
we are asking for volunteers to assist with repairs. Once the press
box is repaired, the stairs will be removed to prevent further damage.

July 22, 2013 This weekend the Bronco 11 World Series will be held at Ironbridge Park this week.
Along with the Bronco 11 World
Series, the CBC Mustang Zone team will be competing to go to their World
Series in Texas. Mustang players from different associations tried out
for positions on this team. CBC had over 50 players try out for 15
spots. Smith Association has 2 players on this team - our very own Blake Hugenberg and Jay Woolfolk. Their first game will also be Thursday night at 8:00 at Ironbridge Park Field 11.

Last night the General Membership meeting took place in the cafeteria to vote on By-Law changes and amendments. The amended changes include the addition of the following Board of Directors position:

CHESTERFIELD, Va. --
The former treasurer for the Alberta Smith Athletic Association was
sentenced Thursday to serve a month in jail after pleading guilty to a
misdemeanor charge of embezzling about $12,000 from the organization.
Circuit Judge T.J. Hauler sentenced Jennifer L. Harris, 34, of the 4600
block of Lakefield Mews Avenue, to 12 months with 11 months suspended as
part of a plea deal that reduced her charge from a felony to a
According to evidence, Harris used an association debit card to pay for
roughly $12,000 in personal expenses from 2009 through 2011. A routine
internal audit of the group's financial statements uncovered a loss of
But Harris paid back much of the money before she was formally charged
in February, said prosecutor Thomas M. McKenna. He said Harris has now
repaid the remainder of the stolen funds — about $950 — and that money
will be forwarded to the association.
Harris, who had no prior criminal record, will be allowed to serve her
